What is long-grain white rice (dry)?
This record deliberately narrows “rice” to uncooked, dry, long-grain white rice. Long-grain rice usually cooks into more separate grains than short-grain rice, while brown, parboiled, and aromatic varieties have different structures and cooking behavior.
Keep dry rice sealed against moisture and pests. Pour the grains loosely into the cup and level without tapping; the adopted reference is about 185 grams per US cup. Rinsed, soaked, or cooked rice needs a different measurement.
