About Grams to Cups
We help home bakers and cooks convert recipe measurements accurately — because a cup of flour and a cup of honey are not the same weight.
What we do
Ingredient-specific data
Every ingredient has its own grams-per-cup value, sourced and reviewed rather than assumed from a single generic conversion rate.
Baking-focused formulas
Our calculator and charts are built for real recipes — grams, cups, tablespoons, and teaspoons for the ingredients bakers reach for most.
Clear approximation notes
We say plainly when a result is an approximation and what can shift it — brand, packing, humidity, and measuring method.
Why we built this
Most online converters treat a cup as a fixed 240 milliliters and stop there — as if a cup of flour weighed the same as a cup of honey. It doesn't. We built Grams to Cups after one too many recipes went wrong because a generic converter didn't know the difference between a scooped cup of flour and a packed cup of brown sugar. Every ingredient on this site carries its own grams-per-cup value, so the numbers you get actually match what's in your mixing bowl.
Same cup, different weight
1 cup All-purpose flour
= 120g
1 cup Granulated sugar
= 198g
1 cup Butter
= 227g
Our data approach
Sourced from reviewed baking references and standard kitchen measuring conventions.
Cross-checked within ingredient families so similar ingredients don't disagree unexpectedly.
Published transparently, with a confidence rating and last-checked date for every ingredient.
Reviewed by the Grams to Cups Editorial Team
Every ingredient entry is checked against multiple baking references before it's published, and revisited whenever we find a discrepancy. No conversion data is generated automatically without review.
